Mental health is a significant concern in our community, with many individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. For more than 20 years, Wise County Christian Counseling has played a pivotal role in offering affordable counseling services focusing on healing and personal growth. In 2018, Wise County Christian Counseling started a specific ministry called “Jenny’s Hope,” which offers grief counseling to children and families who’ve recently experienced the death of a parent, child, or sibling. Since its inception, this specific program has grown by leaps and bounds and has even developed into the need to respond to several large-scale trauma and grief events. For example, at the request of local school districts, Jenny’s Hope counselors have provided group counseling services in schools in response to student deaths due to accidental death, suicide, and even murder. Word about this unique service has spread so much that Jenny’s Hope has been asked to provide similar counseling for schools in the DFW Metroplex and even West Texas. Because Wise County Christian Counseling and Jenny’s Hope operate only on funds they can raise through their annual fundraising campaign, they are limited in their ability to respond to such crisis events. In response, their Board has recently decided to seek a more permanent funding solution to ensure the survivability and operation of this organization for the next generation.
